My Dearest Clubbers,
Have you truly lived life if you have not experienced the highs and lows of club running?
This weekend, clubbers journeyed north to the promised land of chocolate. Competition was fierce, the terrain was mountainous, and clubbers battled with unwavering heart and ferocity. Although Jr/Sr/Grad and Fr/So races were not scored, we obviously won all of them on the men’s and women’s sides. In the championship races, the men placed 18th, and OUR FIRST WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM SINCE 2022 PLACED 4TH. We had some incredible performances, including Nicole Alfers with a season-best, Abbey Mckee and Catherine Parker winning All-American, and Matt Walker and Jacob Dokulil breaking out to finish 2nd and 3rd on the team despite being in the Freshman-Sophomore race.
Hershey is, without a doubt, one of the toughest courses in the country, and regardless of how well you think you did, I am incredibly proud of everyone who raced and incredibly grateful to everyone who came. Shoutout to our photographers and drivers for making all your Instagram posts possible and driving the brutal roads of Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. The seniors agree that we could not have asked for a better team to finish out our final race with, and watching everyone leave everything they had on the course is a testament to what this club means to you all and a reassurance that the future of the Club is bright.
Speaking of the future of Club, BOY do I have some announcements for you tonight.
- (you knew this was coming) Please return all jerseys by WEDNESDAY THIS WEEK. I will be at practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to collect! Please have your notecard with your jersey, as this is how I keep track of who I have collected. If you have already turned it in and it did not have a notecard, please text me because if you told me at the hotel this morning, I DO NOT remember it.
- FoOoOoRrRrMmMmAaAaLlLlLl RSVPFormal will be on Saturday, November 15th from 9:30-11:30 PM at The PITCH on Franklin St. Please bring some form of identification with you, as those under 18 are not allowed in.
For formal, each class typically organizes a dinner (and other activities) before the event. Each clubber is permitted to invite a +1, and you DO NOT have to be a dues-paying clubber to attend. Sprinters are also encouraged to come! Formal is basically a big dance with Awards and Officer Transition announcements made in the middle.
3. THE 2026 OFFICER ELECTIONS WILL BE HELD THIS WEEK. Speeches are due TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT. There are a few who have filled out the form who have still not sent me their speeches, and this worries me deeply. Tomorrow we will be giving speeches at the beginning of practice. Voting will be open all week, and results will be announced on Friday.
4. Practice will continue to be held at 5:00 this week. We will switch to 4:30 next week.
Alrighty then, folks, let’s have ourselves a week!
Sleepy Colin
