Dearest Clubbers,

THE RACING SEASON HATH BEGUN. This weekend, clubbers ventured to the mountains of Boone, NC, to compete in App State’s 5k. Both teams finished first overall (if App had actually kept team scores), and top finishers included our very own Liam, Harrison, and Izora! We have not received results yet, but we will try to get everyone’s times and send them out ASAP! Anna will also be sending out a shared photo album for everyone to put their pictures in from the meet. PLEASE BRING YOUR JERSEYS TO PRACTICE ON MONDAY OR TUESDAY SO I CAN WASH THEM AND PREPARE FOR THE HOME MEET. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO RACE THE HOME MEET. I NEEEEEEEEDDDDDD YOUR JERSEYS BACCKKK.

Anyways, here are the announcements for the week but in long format because I’m feeling verbose:

  • This week is a big week for us as we look to host the most southern meet in the country this year. This means we are anticipating a phenomenal turnout from our friends down south and some great competition at our very first 8k of the season at the Carolina North Forest. Signups close on Wednesday! If you are hesitant about racing or don’t want to travel, this is a great way to experience XC and will only take half a day.
  • Friday night before the home meet, our dearest Vice President Janie Peterson has offered her home to host our first Pasta Dinner! Come for carbs and stay for camaraderie. The address and details will be sent soon…
  • But wait, there’s more! Wednesday is ALSO the last day to sign up for the Maryland Terrapin Invitational. Since this will be an overnight race, we need to book hotels ASAP! We will be leaving for Washington, DC Friday afternoon and spending the night before the race. Post-race, some may elect to visit our great nation’s capital, who knows!
  • As we look to build up the team store, we have heard your requests and have agreed to allow YOU, yes YOU, to design our merch for this year! Janie will be sending out a Canva link this week for everyone to put design ideas into. We may do some voting to determine which designs are put on our merch. (Not to be a buzzkill, but make sure you read some of Carolina’s copyright laws before doing this because I spent a lot of time this summer accidentally making illegal designs.)
  • Finally, if you have not received your shirt yet after paying dues, please DM me with your shirt size before coming to practice this week

If you can’t read all that, then plug it into ChatGPT and have it summarized or something.

Sinceriously,
