Another Dick Taylor meet another D1 school beat

Salutations Clubbers,

Our first full week in the southern part of heaven has passed and I hope you have made many wonderful memories that will last you a lifetime. 😚

First of all, if you see Evan and Janie at practice this week make sure to give them a big THANK YOU for putting together a successful pasta dinner. Chef Eberle ran an incredibly efficient kitchen on Friday and together the pair successfully fed a small army of future Dick Taylor champs. Also, make sure to thank the other residents of North Columbia Street for allowing their home to be transformed into an Italian restaurant.

Secondly, DICK TAYLOR. Stacked up against Division 1 Athletics (and disgruntled meet organizers) club decided to prove why we belong on that track. Notable performances include EMMANUEL, COLTER, and SAM finishing 3RD, 4TH, and 5TH OVERALL in the MEN’s 1K. They beat every runner not wearing a UNC logo and quite handily. Also important to note that all of our Men’s milers would have finished dead middle of the pack, which is also very impressive, and Avey competed in the middle of the pack for the 300 and 60 dash. Everyone at this meet represented the club stunningly and we could not be prouder of how well you all handled being cast aside by the meet organizers and running amongst yourselves.

Finally, Announcements for the week.

  1. JDL Flat is Fast Signups open TOMORROW and will close on the 23RD. There are no time cutoffs for this meet so sign up at will. The meet is on Sunday.
  2. ICE SKATING THIS FRIDAY. Club tradition returns and we will be skating Friday night 8:15-10! Driver signups coming soon. πŸ‘€
  3. Signups for Habitat for Humanity will be sent out today! We will have two H4H dates and this is frankly one of the more fun ways to get some service credits for Tar Heel 10. Our first date will be February 1stΒ and we have 10 slots available so sign up by the 28th. Our second date will be February 8thΒ (we’ll send the signups out later) and this one will be done in collaboration with Marathon Team.
  4. Finally, signups for Tar Heel 10 are still open! Instructions for how to sign up and get reimbursed are in the Dues-Paying GroupMe and we highly suggest you sign up ASAP if you plan to run. This saves the club money and you stress! (but mostly saves the club money)

Janie has put together this wonderful schedule for the week so take a gander.

Best wishes forevermore,
