Did I have an email about die-hard clubber Owen Althouse finally seeing success after 3 years of wearing a Christian McCaffrey Panthers jersey pre-written prior to the Super Bowl?  Hard to know really, but it’s entirely possible.  Am I also currently waging 5 dollars about whether or not Travis Kelce will propose to Taylor tonight?  Also entirely possible.

Also, can we talk about this Instagram post?

Rivals the “You represented the Great State of Kansas very well” tweet by that one former president in terms of top comedic gold.  Hopefully the Biden Admin lets this one stay up, though.

Now, for our important announcements!

  1. NO OFFICIAL PRACTICE MONDAY 2/12 AND TUESDAY 2/13.  With the Wellness Days and basically half the school being not at school, we’ve decided not to hold practice on these days.  However, I encourage everyone to get out and run if at all possible.  Because…
  2. This Saturday, 2/17, is the Frantz Invitational.  Please register for this meet via the google sheet in the Dues-Paying GroupMe by Wednesday.  If you don’t plan on racing, consider volunteering.  This is going to be a great opportunity to get a service credit and watch your fellow clubbers absolutely tear it up on the Carrboro High School track.  If you have any questions, let us know in the Dues-Paying GroupMe.
  3. Clear your calendars for a pasta dinner this Friday.  We are currently in the process of finalizing details for pasta dinner on Friday and more info will come soon in the GroupMe.  We will send out an RSVP and request poll for any allergies in the coming days.  Keep your eyes open!

Lastly, I’m not entirely sure how to address this, but I think it needs addressing.  Today the running community learned of a horrific and shocking loss: Kelvin Kiptum, the marathon world record holder, and his coach passed away in a car accident at 24.  Seeing stuff like this come out of absolutely nowhere is always devastating.  Loss of life at such a young age is a stark reminder of our fragility and the short timespan we have on this planet.  I implore all of you to keep close those you love and live every day to its fullest.  Even if it just means calling up your family and reminding them that you love them. And may Kelvin Kiptum and his coach rest in peace.

Anyways, I wish all of you a restful last few days of break and I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday.  Everyone take good care of yourselves and take this time to rest up as we head into a week jam-packed with fun.

See you all soon!
